Who are eligible for our International Doctors Program?

Those who have completed their medical graduation (Undergraduate Medical Degree – MBBS or Doctor of Medicine  for Doctors / BDS for Dentists), done mandatory internship training, and registered with the respective medical councils in India or their home country with or without experience.

Fachsprachprufung (FSP) Examination:

This is a German Medical Language-based on-site exam wherein the applicant’s medical knowledge is tested through the language. A high level of proficiency in medical German is imperative to pass this exam.

FSP has comprised of three parts with each session having duration of 20 minutes.

Session 1: Patient handling skills with patient-doctor conversation

Session 2: Explain the inference/conversation to other colleagues – doctor to doctor conversation

Session 3: Dedicated to case-sheet writing

The questions may vary from internal medicine, orthopaedics, surgery, and ENT. Once the FSP examination is cleared the applicant will be granted a temporary license to work as an ‘Assistant Doctor / Assistant Dentist’ to prepare for the approbation exam.

Kenntnisprufung (KP) Examination:

This is an equivalency or approbation examination that all doctors/dentists have to pass to get a permanent license for independent practice or specialization in Germany.

KP is ideally a viva-based exam and depending on the examiner, a practical examination as well.

For the KP exam of doctors, a student’s medical knowledge about internal medicine, surgery, pharmacology, emergency medicine, urology, and clinical pathology is thoroughly assessed.

For dentists, the task may be ranging from an amalgam filling, cleaning and polishing, root canal treatment, prosthetics and orthodontics, and use of advanced medical devices for dental treatment.

What are the different pathways available of Medical License File Processing of Doctors/Dentists in Germany?

Karriwereweg’s IDP Pathway 1 is a comprehensive training with or without (as per the choice of the candidate) German classes wherein we will give you a E2E service including documents review, translations, Medical License File Processing, arrange Deficit Notification, preparations for FSP, schedule FSP exam appointment, interim stay while you are in Germany for exam preparation, and assured placements in reputed hospitals upon passing FSP exam in Germany.

In this pathway, the candidate has to complete German language proficiency level till B2 in India or home country, undergo rigorous training of 6-8 months (online, interactive mode of study) with faculties from Germany while they do B2 level German, will assist in scheduling appointment for B2 level German exam in India (ECL, Goethe or Telc) as per the availability.

Once you register with Karriereweg academy for this pathway, we will start the license file processing with Health Ministry in Germany simultaneously. We will guide you to compile all necessary documents in the course of file processing. Normally it takes 6 months for initial file approval in the case of doctors and 9 months for dentists.

While you start classes for your B2 level German, we will join you for the FSP preparation program to make sure that you will tide through the FSP exam easily.

We will arrange ‘Deficit Notification’ upon approval of your license file application, and arrange all visa related documents. Meantime, we will schedule your appointment for the FSP exam. Your housing arrangements while you are in Germany for FSP exam preparation, guidance for FSP exam,  04 weeks placement in clinics for FSP simulation, professional license and work permit, and all liaison works are inclusions of our IDP pathway 1 package.

Once you pass the FSP exam, we will arrange suitable placements in hospitals and clinics and prepare you for the C1 level German and KP exam.

All candidates are free to choose your language study option. If you wish to study the German language through us, we will schedule classes online or hybrid mode in convenient timing.

These are further divided into 06 sub-levels of language proficiency which is the common pattern followed in German language learning.

The learner can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs. In this phase the learner can introduce himself and others and ask other people questions about themselves.

In this language learning phase, the learner can understand sentences and commonly used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance. The learner can interact in routine situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.

Here the learner can understand the main points of clear, standard language on familiar matters relating to work, school, leisure, time, etc. The learner would become adept in communicating with real-life situations, can produce simple connected text on a familiar topic or can express about his dreams, aspirations, views, hopes, goals, etc.

The learner will be in a position to understand key ideas of complicated texts on concrete and abstract topics; the person can understand technical discussions pertain to his profession, etc. The learner can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is easily possible without great effort on either side.

On completion of this phase, the learner can produce clear detailed texts on varied subjects and able to express his view point on any topic of discussion.

In this phase of advanced language practice, the learner can understand a wide range of comprehensive and longer texts, including their implicit meaning. On completion of C1 level, the learner can use the language effectively and flexibly in social and professional life or in training and studies.

FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS

Waiting time for an exam date is currently approx. 10 – 12 weeks

Applicants cannot choose an examination date, but they can specify the date from which they would like to have an exam date at the earliest.

Karriereweg will register the doctors/dentists for the FSP exam beforehand, toward the end of their C1 course.

The candidates who have cleared the FSP have to do that as soon as they receive their first professional license since the waiting time is currently quite long (12 – 16 months).

FSP can be taken as many times as the candidate wishes

The KP exam can be taken once and can be repeated twice (a total of 03 attempts). If the KP exam is not cleared in three attempts, the applicant will not be eligible to work as a doctor in Germany.

 Yes, but the fee is paid by the Federal Office of Refugees and Migration – BAMF (also the         fee, in case of a repeat of the exam)

The examination is monitored by a board consisting of two experienced faculties licensed to practice medicine. Both of them would have German as their mother tongue. The result of the examination is determined by the evaluation system of the state.

For passing the entire exam, a total score from all parts of the exam which is above 60% is required. Each part of an examination must be completed with a minimum number of points assigned to it, otherwise, the applicant will be considered as failed.

The German Language Certification

The German Certification exams are based on the specifications put forth by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The certificate exams test the ability of a participant to use the language independently in everyday conversations and situations at work. The major focus of a German certification exam is on assessing the communicative competence, but attention is also paid to formal correctness. The exam is divided in to 04 modules which oversee five different components. Reading Comprehension: Here participants’ skills on global, selective and detailed comprehension of different texts from Austria, Germany and Switzerland is checked on the basis of 03 tasks.

Language Modules: This module is intended to gauge a participant’s understanding of grammar and his vocabulary are being assessed. Listening Comprehension: Candidate’s skill in understanding global and detailed comprehension of audio content spoken in standard accent from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are checked.

Writing: Here letter drafting skills of a candidate is assessed using standard parameters and checked against specified criteria. Speaking: In this module a conversation is held in an individual or in pairs on various topics.
