Students who have finished their 12 year of secondary school education with physics, chemistry and biology subjects and cleared their NEET are offered plenty of choices to study 5/6 year undergraduate medicine program – MBBS or Doctor of Medicine-MD which is equivalent to the basic MBBS program in India in many countries.
In order to bring uniformity in the education pattern and upheld the standard of Medical Education in India,
The National Medical Commission(NMC) has been constituted in place of theMCI by the Government of India, as the apex body to ensure quality medical education in India.
Since 2021 NMC has brought so many changes in the Medical Educational pattern and brought a proposal to implement the National Eligibility Exit Test (NEXT) in India, applicable both for the student graduating from Medical Colleges in India as well as those who are graduating from foreign countries.
Along with these changes the NMC has also introduced the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations(FMGL-2021) in the year 2021 to bring transparency and improve the quality of medical education of those students who wish to do their MBBS or its Program outside India.
